Sometimes it is hard to take action. Today, I didn’t do any inspired work. I didn’t exercise; I didn’t put my brain to the business much, and it was a pretty meh day. I also try to write a blog post each day to get to my amazing editor, Colleen. The words just wouldn't come.

Until they did. And now we are here talking about dealing with adversity.

The first four properties I tried buying all fell through. The first, the wholesaler failed to honor our verbal agreement. I sent them the contract right away, and they said, “I got a higher offer. I’m going to take it.” The second deal, the seller found the money to get out of foreclosure. I let them out of the contract. The third time the seller lied about some major septic issues; we terminated the contract after two inspections. The fourth time, my HELOC wasn’t able to close fast enough. Suffice to say, life happens.

I could have thought I was cursed. I could have given up. Fortunately, I stuck with it. I got a HELOC on my personal home, which was a live in house hack. I slowly renovated it over two years. I then used the line of credit as downpayment for BRRRR Airbnb purchases. I learned something from each experience, and I’m also able to empathize with investors when things don’t go the way they expect.

I had this quote memorized at one time, but it’s lost on me now. I look it up all the time:
